For ____________________________________________________________

  1. Expect soreness after the surgical procedures for the next few days. Take medications for pain as directed.
  2. Place an ice pack on the face over the surgical wound area for 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off throughout the rest of the day if possible.
  3. Blood tinged saliva is expected for next few hours. This mild oozing of blood will stop by the end of the first day of surgery.
  4. If an antibiotic such as Amoxicillin is prescribed, it is to be taken until used up. If any problems arise, the medication is to be discontinued and this office called.
  5. Starting tomorrow, rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water after meals and at bedtime. (One teaspoon of salt to a glass of water)
  6. You may brush and floss your teeth normally excluding the treated area.
  7. Eat soft food.
  8. Do not pull back the lip or cheek to look at the incision. Limit facial movements and smiling for next few days.
  9. Expect swelling and possibly facial discoloration for the next three or four days.
